Review:

This is the third time I used PDS and my first two experiences were good. This time, I noticed that our door was out of balance when I replaced the garage door opener. The technician who came out offered three proposals. The cheapest proposal was to replace the springs, a shaft and some accessories for close to $1200 (the most expensive proposal includes replacing the garage opener that is just three days old). The last time used them to replace two springs cost me $380. I definitely understand inflation, but the difference is still big enough for me to be hesitant. After seeing that, he offered to take out some of the replacements and that brought the price down for ~$200 (still close to $1000) and I decided to go with that. When he lifted the door open to go back to his truck, he pushed it very hard and way beyond the upper limit of the door (He also lifted the door up earlier but was gentle and did not pushed it beyond the limit). My guess is that it was a mix of carelessness and disappointment that I go with the "cheap" option. The three-day-old three-piece tracks broke off. Luckily, I was there to notice that and connected the tracks back myself. Otherwise, I suspect more severe/dangerous damage would happen. He did offer to fix it when the parts for the track arrives (the estimate was one week, but no guarantee). Now, I am left with a garage door that is not functional. Frankly, I really regret making the call. I will update the review about how long I am left with an unfunctional garage door.

I paid over $500 to them for my garage door repair and I needed a invoice to submit to my warranty company. They could not give me what my warranty company asked for which was breakdown of the labor cost and diagnosis of part take failed. After calling them 4 times and not getting any help then they tell me they cannot give me that information on my invoice. For that reason I will NEVER USE Precision Doors of Baton Rouge again. And by the way their repairman was very good a trying to sell us a brand new garage door for $3000

Review:

Disappointed that door operated fine with come to find out just one spring. Then after we replace both springs the door won't function at all, throwing the cables. The technician tells me it becomes the door is slightly bent and binding. I just don't understand how the door operated just fine while "bent" before and now it won't operate at all. Not satisfied at all after paying 350 dollars and have nothing to show for it. Very disappointed.

Technician and assistant spent two hours working on my door. Ten minutes after they left, I attempted to close door and it would not work!! They had to return to my house to fix the problem. The price was outrageously high! I would not recommend this company!

I do not believe the estimate to repair the garage door was correct. I will have another estimate done in the next couple of days. The tech told me i needed a new pannell. I do not believe this to be true. And a estinate for a new door?? This was not needed.

Total scam! I spoke to a customer service rep via phone and was quoted a price range For spring replacement. I specifically told them my spring size and door size. When the young guy came onsite, he had to call his boss like Fifty times, only to tell my quote is Approximately $400. The technician stated the phone reps are given scripts. 158 installed vs 400 installed is a big difference, then I had to pay &50 bucks for nothing. Total rip off!!

Mrs. Garrison, I really hate to hear you were disappointed in the quality of service you received with your two broken springs. Based on your details it looks like your quote for service was right on point with exactly what we quote anyone in the same position. Should you have anymore issues with your garage door or opener I would love to hear from you so I can help make our second visit a much happier situation.

Review:

I called the Baton Rouge number for Precision to ask how much it costs to replace a garage door spring. I was told there would be a $50 callout fee which also included a thorough safety inspection, plus $85 - $165 depending on what type of spring I wanted. When the person arrived, he looked at the garage door for a few minutes, told me that the system could not be repaired and had to be converted over to a different type, and quoted two options from $500 - $688. I told him I’d prefer to get quotes from others first. He then told me I had to pay the $50 callout fee. Now I was fine with this fee if, in the end, I’d get a repaired garage, but this was $50 for nothing! I explained to him that I was told a much different price over the phone. He said that the call center got it wrong. He was sympathetic with me and contacted his boss to see if the callout fee could be waived. They would not, so I was out the $50 for nothing. I then called 3 other companies, which all quoted within the range of $300-$400, showing that the Precision business model is probably based on this bait and switch maneuver where the customer pays the higher cost because they’ve already invested $50. Also, NONE of the others charged a callout fee and offered free estimates. And one other tidbit, they cashed the check in the same day, which is not typical for other repair companies we have used. Stay far away from these guys!

A Response from: Bobby Boes

Hey Mr. Bennet we are very sorry to hear that you were upset about the pricing quoted to replace the torsion system on your garage door. We feel the term bait and switch is not at all accurate and does not represent how our company operates. We had a certified technician go to your home and provide you with a No Obligation quote as opposed to getting verbal quotes from other companies. Our quote was for a complete rebuild and lifetime warranty on all parts and labor, where as our competitors quoted a one year warranty. We, as well as the majority of other licensed and insured home service companies quote a service fee before trucks are dispatched to a job. Also, our office staff deposits checks the following day, so our technician would not run to the bank with a $50 check. We stand behind our work 100% and at all times are fair and honest with each and every customer.

I was charged nearly $150 for approximately four minutes worth of work, which entailed connecting two wires that had been disconnected. I was charged for services I neither requested nor needed including a 'safety inspection', which included measuring my door with a tape measure and watching my garage door open and close. I was not informed I would be charged for these superfluous. Had I been informed of this I never would have used this service. The technicians were very professional and polite, but the service was not worth the fee.

I am so very sorry you’re not happy with the service you received, we have refunded the service fee from today's service. We are happy to hear that our technicians were professional and polite. If you ever have any issues, I hope you will give us a chance to earn your business. Sincerely, R. Boes If you have any further questions, please feel free to call our office directly. 225-218-4741
